Itinerary

Day 1: Dimapur - Kohima (70kms)

Arrive at Dimapur airport and meet your guide. Transfer to Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. Check-in at the hotel and relax after your journey.

Day 2: Kohima

After breakfast, visit the Nagaland State Museum to explore exhibits showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditional attire of the Naga tribes. Proceed to the II World War Memorial, where the historic Battle of Kohima took place. Explore the memorial and learn about its significance in WWII history. Wander through the vibrant local market in Kohima, known for its colorful stalls selling local produce, handicrafts, and traditional artifacts. In the afternoon, visit Kisama Heritage Village, home to the Hornbill Festival and a showcase of traditional Naga architecture, crafts, and lifestyles.

Day 3: Kohima - Khonoma (20kms)

Drive to Khonoma village, known for its valorous history and cultural resilience. Khonoma is famous for its role in the Anglo-Naga wars and its community-based conservation efforts. Explore Khonoma's narrow lanes lined with traditional Angami houses and interact with locals to learn about their daily lives and cultural practices.

Day 4: Khonoma

Start the day with an early morning soft trek through the dense forests surrounding Khonoma to the Tragopan Sanctuary. This area is known for its biodiversity and is a habitat for the endangered Blyth's Tragopan bird. Enjoy a picnic breakfast amidst the tranquil surroundings of the sanctuary. Return to Khonoma village and spend the afternoon interacting with villagers, visiting local craft workshops, and learning about traditional Angami weaving and handicrafts.

Day 5: Khonoma - Tuophema (55kms)

Depart for Tuophema village, an eco-tourism destination managed by the Angami community. Tuophema offers a glimpse into Angami tribal life and traditions. Explore Tuophema's old and new villages, including a visit to the Tuophema Village Museum, which displays artifacts showcasing Angami cultural heritage. In the evening, enjoy cultural performances featuring traditional Angami dances and songs around a bonfire.

Day 6: Tuophema

Embark on a gentle 3-hour trekking trail through the lush forests to neighboring Rengma village. Experience the serene beauty of the Rengma village, interact with villagers, and learn about their agricultural practices and daily routines. Enjoy a traditional Rengma lunch prepared by your hosts before returning to Tuophema village.

Day 7: Tuophema - Majuli (195kms)

Depart Tuophema and drive to Nimathi-Ghat to board a local ferry across the mighty Brahmaputra River to Majuli Island, the world's largest river island. Upon arrival at Kamalabari Ghat, transfer to your lodge and settle in. Explore the unique Mishing tribal villages on Majuli Island, known for their distinctive stilt houses and vibrant cultural traditions. Visit a Mishing household to taste local delicacies and learn about their traditional crafts such as pottery and weaving.

Day 8: Majuli - Dibrugarh (155kms)

Return ferry journey to Nimathi-Ghat and drive to Dibrugarh, known as the tea capital of Assam. Visit the Jokai Botanical Garden, home to a diverse collection of flora including rare orchids and medicinal plants. Explore the Shrikshetra Dhaam, a religious site dedicated to Lord Krishna, and the historic Lord Jagannath Temple. Visit the serene Dehing Satra ruins and the peaceful Buddhist Monastery at Namphake Village, where Tibetan monks continue their religious practices.

Day 9: Dibrugarh

Embark on a trek through the Jeypore Rainforest Reserve, known for its lush greenery and diverse wildlife including various species of birds, mammals, and reptiles. Visit a Heritage Tea Garden estate and witness the intricate process of tea cultivation, plucking, and processing. Tour a tea factory to see how tea leaves are processed and transformed into the world-renowned Assam tea.

Day 10: Dibrugarh - Departure

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before transferring to Dibrugarh airport for your onward journey.
